Desiring to add a dedicated 'kid's zone' to their existing, fully-remodeled home, the clients of this project were looking to expand up. They wanted something uniquely contemporary with indoor and outdoor space and separate access to the open backyard swimming pool.
A pair of uniquely contemporary gabled spaces float over the existing dining and living areas, aligning with the windows below and cantilevering to the front and rear. Each volume contains a child's bedroom, bathroom, and closet, while at the back, they combine to create a flex room.
The newly incorporated stairs become a focal element at the existing front entry with built-in storage and visual screening via a slat wall. The landing of the stairs allows for direct access to the rear swimming pool.
